Chelsea are prepared to sell Romelu Lukaku at the end of the current campaign, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Belgian re-signed for the Blues from Inter Milan last season and had a difficult campaign with just 15 goals in all competitions.

As a result, Lukaku rejoined the Nerazzurri on loan this summer, but his time at the club has been disappointing due to multiple injuries.

Despite this, the Blues are hopeful of Lukaku’s sale next summer and believe a strong World Cup could boost his current transfer value.

The 29-year-old suffered a fresh thigh injury at the weekend and he is expected to be sidelined for the midweek game against Bayern.

He is still anticipated to make the World Cup squad. Lukaku is the country’s all-time goalscorer and will be key to their chances of winning.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Lukaku has no plans of returning to Chelsea despite the dismissal of manager Thomas Tuchel in September.
